They are designed for situations where PoQ-related communication, verification, or transactions take place outside PoQrr. For example, someone you meet elsewhere may claim to control the PoQrr account associated with a PoQ. A ThatsMe Beacon gives you a simple way to check that claim directly through PoQrr. ThatsMe, as a module for self-hosting, is available on [Github](https://github.com/gluten-free-beer/thatsme). ### How A Beacon Works The account owner generates a unique ThatsMe Beacon link and sends it to the person requesting verification. The requester confirms that the link is on poqrr.com. The requester enters a recognizable name and chooses a color, such as Alice + Indigo. The completed beacon appears on the account owner's public ThatsMe page with a timestamp. Both parties can open the live page and match the name and color. The beacon expires after 24 hours.

### Active Beacon Limit An account may display up to 12 active beacons at a time. Expired beacons stop appearing as active beacons. ### What A Beacon Confirms A ThatsMe Beacon confirms that the person who provided the beacon link currently controls the corresponding PoQrr account. It does not verify someone's legal or real-world identity. It does not by itself prove ownership of a particular PoQ. It does not verify payment, fulfillment, delivery, contract rights, intellectual property rights, or title to goods inside or outside PoQrr. ### Public Information The name, color, timestamp, account handle, and other information displayed in a beacon are public. Do not use passwords, private information, security codes, recovery codes, payment information, private keys, government identifiers, or other sensitive information in a beacon. Do not rely on screenshots or copied pages. A beacon should be checked on the live poqrr.com page.
